The finishing touches...

The kitchen with the oven, rangehood and fridge in view. Chris made all these cupboards and hung all these doors himself (what a relief when it was finished!). The kitchen bench was the old oregon dining table that I couldn't bear to leave behind.

The lounge is opposite with the couch (a futon that pulls out to a double bed) and my chair for travelling, it also swivels to face the desk at the side.
This shows our escape hatch! The old hatch has been replaced with a new one that can open right up if we ever tip on our side and can't get out!

The bottom photo shows our little dining table (my old coffee table). Behind that is the pantry and the passage down to the bedroom.
Getting close...beds are in and cupboards waiting to be filled.

top photo shows the kids bunks- Will on the top because he doesn't move in bed, Laura on the bottom because she fidgets all night!! At the end of their beds are 2 shelves each for nick-nacks. Next photo shows the wardrobe at the rear of the bus, just waiting for the curtains to be fitted across the front.

On the opposite side to the bunks is this seat under the window. Cushion still to be covered.
Next shot is our bed, new mattress yet to be fitted, end piece still to be filled in. Green wall is the head end of the bunks.

Laying down the foundations...

We wanted to keep most of the fittings at the front of the bus as original as possible. We kept all of these windows. We filled this step at the front to level the floor.

This is the bathroom wall going in and then the view from front to back showing the bathroom dividing the kitchen and bedroom areas.

This is Deb's feature wall which is between the master bedroom and the kid's bunks.

A BARE SHELL...

In December 2007 we purchased our Nissan UD exschool bus and so began more than a year long building adventure. We stripped out all the seats and removed all the windows except one each side at the front. We left these so we could open a window for fresh air as we travel. We filled all the wall cavity spaces with 2 layers of insulation and then lined the walls with white colourbond sheets, helped by uncle reg. We made sure all the largest pieces of furniture were in before the windows were filled or we wouldn't have gotten them in. Gary helped with the welding and Don helped too. I gave lots of helpful advice, some they heard and some they pretended not to!
